THE TEAM OF THE NINETIES

No denying that the team of the decade of the 1990s was the Meadow Hill Guards. During the ten year period, the Guards put together 5 championship seasons. A very unusual fact is that they won these 5 titles during this 10 year span without winning the league in any consecutive season.

The Guards date back to 1968 when their home was St. Patrick's in the City of Newburgh.
They officially became the Meadow Hill Guards when they moved to the primary playroom at the Meadow Hill School. In 2008-09, the team moved again to their new home which they share with the Rec-King Crew at the Town of Newburgh Recreation Center.

Long time members that are still tossing darts from the St Patrick days include their captain Vinny DiDonato, Stanley Rhodes & Don Parrone. All three of these veteran shooters are members of the Goodfellowship Dartball Hall Of Fame. Vinny DiDonato was inducted in 1991. Don Parrone was recognized as a Hall of Famer in 1999 & Stanley Rhodes gained the honor in 2001

The Guards last trip to the World Series was during the 2005-06 season. This 2008-09 season was a rare time for Meadow Hill to not be a participant in the playoffs. With their glorious history, everyone realizes that this team will be in the title hunt in the immediate future. Their roster has a great mix of players of all ages with the potential for a big upside in the upcoming seasons.

Vinny DiDonato is a true gentleman that represents his team and the league with class & dignity. Perhaps the next upcoming decade may see the Meadow Hill Guards lay claim to once again the title of team of the decade.
