* 2005 American Division All Star
There's a modern expression used to describe one who does
his job. It's "taking care of business", and Chris Monroe is the "taking care of business" man of the Occupational Hazard
team.
Here's a quiet, private gentleman from Beacon, who volunteers his time with the local
fire department, and who plays a steady, positive brand of ball. While best known as an offensive player who can slow
down a pitcher's routine, Chris has developed into one of the game's more effective pitchers as well. A thinking man's
player, he was soon teaching his teammates not just pitch types, but strategies as well. As team Captain, it's not uncommon
to see Monroe sharing his insights with those on the mound. That is, when he is not there himself. He looks to develop
as a top closer this season.
In fact his steady, reliable approach already has him climbing the All-Time lists in
both hitting and pitching. He currently ranks in the Top 20 in: Games played; singles; doubles and base on balls.
While rising to the occassion is not uncommon for him, Chris isn't one bent
towards thrills or showmanship. He just goes out and does his job - like the professional that he is both on and off the field
- while he continues to take care of business.
